Cleaning Terms & Liability Policy

Operated by Rudy’s Rugs LLC

At Rudy’s Rug Cleaning, we take pride in caring for your rugs as if they were our own. Our cleaning process follows industry standards and best practices, and our team exercises the utmost care in handling every rug entrusted to us. Because rugs vary widely in age, construction, dyes, materials, past treatments, and condition, certain risks are unavoidable. The following terms outline what we can—and cannot—be responsible for.

1. Pre-Existing Conditions & Inherent Risks

Rudy’s Rug Cleaning cannot be responsible for issues that existed before cleaning or are inherent to the rug itself, including but not limited to:

  • Prior damage

  • Urine contamination

  • Wear, fading, or sun damage

  • Water marks

  • Shrinkage

  • Splitting or fraying of fabrics

  • Dry rot or brittle fibers

  • Poor construction or unstable materials

  • Unstable dyes or dye migration

  • Change in face-yarn texture

  • Pre-existing stains

  • Damage caused by previous cleanings or home treatments

Some of these conditions may not be visible until after cleaning begins.

2. Stain & Spot Removal

Spot and stain removal is not guaranteed.

Some stains are permanent or may have been set by prior cleaners, home remedies, or unstable dyes. We always aim to remove stains safely, but discoloration may remain if doing more would risk damaging the rug.

3. Odors & Biological Contamination

Sources such as urine, mold, mildew, bacteria, and insect activity require specialized treatments that may incur additional charges.

Because contamination penetrates multiple layers—including the backing and pad—odors may improve but not fully disappear. Some odors or stains may also reappear as residues wick upward during drying.

4. Urine Contamination Policy

Urine contamination creates unique and unavoidable challenges. By approving cleaning for a urine-affected rug, customers acknowledge:

Odor Removal Is Not Guaranteed

Urine penetrates the:

  • face fibers

  • backing

  • foundation warps/wefts

  • padding (if applicable)

Because of this, complete odor removal may not be possible, even with enzyme soaks or deodorization treatments.

Stains & Discoloration

Urine can:

  • alter fiber color

  • set yellowing

  • weaken dyes

  • cause bleeding during washing

  • leave permanent spotting

These effects may remain even after cleaning.

Wicking

During drying, urine salts deep in the rug can wick upward, causing:

  • odor to return

  • stains to reappear

  • yellowing to resurface

This is normal for heavily contaminated rugs.

Additional Charges

Extra charges may apply for:

  • flood deodorization washes

  • enzyme baths

  • multiple cleaning cycles

  • disinfection procedures

  • additional labor and dry time

Structural Damage May Become Visible

Urine can weaken foundations and cause:

  • dry rot

  • holes

  • delamination

  • brittle threads

These issues may not be visible before cleaning and are not caused by the cleaning process.

5. Post-Cleaning Changes

Certain changes may occur during or after cleaning due to a rug’s construction, materials, or condition, including:

  • dye bleeding or migration

  • fiber distortion

  • texture changes

  • browning or discoloration

  • shrinkage or rippling

  • latent damage becoming visible

  • fraying or weakened areas

These changes are inherent risks of the cleaning process.

6. Additional Services & Charges

Additional charges may apply for:

  • heavy soil

  • urine contamination

  • mold or mildew

  • insect damage

  • specialty fibers (silk, viscose, etc.)

  • delicate or antique rugs

  • repairs or stabilization

  • padding replacement

  • pick-up and delivery

We communicate additional costs whenever reasonably possible.

7. Re-Clean & Refund Policy

We strive to deliver the highest-quality results. Because rugs vary widely in age, materials, construction, and condition, results may differ from customer expectations.

When Complimentary Re-Cleans May Be Offered

A re-clean may be offered when:

  • additional cleaning could improve the rug

  • re-cleaning does not risk damage

  • the concern is related to soil or residue

  • the rug is structurally safe to wash again

Re-Cleans Are Not Provided For

  • permanent stains

  • urine-related odors

  • unstable dyes

  • fiber distortion or shading

  • pre-existing wear, fading, or deterioration

Refunds

Refunds may be issued only when:

  • a clear process error occurred, and

  • the issue cannot be corrected with a re-clean

Refunds Cannot Be Provided For

  • pre-existing conditions (visible or latent)

  • permanent stains or odors

  • damage related to unstable dyes or dry rot

  • normal reactions of sensitive fibers or constructions

  • declined re-clean opportunities

Limitations

  • No refunds or re-cleans are provided in exchange for threats, chargeback attempts, or negative reviews.

  • Management makes all final determinations after evaluating the rug.

8. Abandoned Rug Policy

To maintain safe and manageable storage, Rudy’s Rugs LLC enforces the following:

Notification

Customers are notified via phone, text, or email when their rug is ready.

30-Day Pickup Window

Rugs must be picked up within 30 days of notification.

Storage Fees

Starting on day 31, a storage fee of $10 per week is added.

90-Day Abandonment

Rugs not picked up within 90 days are considered abandoned property.

At our discretion, Rudy’s Rugs LLC may:

  • donate the rug

  • dispose of it

  • sell it to recover cleaning and storage costs

No compensation is provided for abandoned rugs.

Liability

Once abandoned, Rudy’s Rug Cleaning is released from all liability; the customer forfeits all rights to the rug.

Chargeback Attempts

Chargebacks on abandoned rugs will be disputed with documented terms and timestamps.

Exceptions

Exceptions may be granted only with written approval from management.

9. No Verbal Modifications

No verbal statements, promises, or opinions modify these written terms. All services are performed under Rudy’s Rugs LLC’s published policies.

10. Customer Consent

By dropping off your rug, scheduling a pick-up, or approving service, you acknowledge:

  • you have read and understand these terms

  • you accept the inherent risks involved in rug cleaning

  • services are performed by Rudy’s Rugs LLC

  • Rudy’s is not liable for pre-existing conditions
